make the build rules more flexible
Allow to specify extra rubber arguments through the RUBBER_XARGS
environment variable.
Make the latex implementation overritable by setting the LATEX_PROG
environment variable.
Change intercation from batchmode to nonstopmode in order to see
error messages on stderr.
